What to do after the 2026 West Midlands shared test
- Check your child's result. The King Edward VI Foundation grammar schools and Newport Girls' High School said they would issue results by 16 October 2026, and Queen Mary's Grammar School sent scores on 14 October. Other partner schools may differ, so ask the school you registered with if nothing has arrived.
- Name each school you want on your home council's application by 31 October 2026. The King Edward VI Foundation says not to list one of its schools if the score is below that school's qualifying score. Check your own council's closing date.
- Each partner school applies its own qualifying score and oversubscription rules, so a shared result does not guarantee an offer. Home councils send offers on 1 March 2027.

1. Shared entrance test
Applicants sit both papers in one shared route. The papers contain individually timed sections covering English comprehension, verbal reasoning, mathematics, non-verbal reasoning and spatial reasoning. Each partner school then applies its own published admissions criteria.

If an intended school is outside that registration region, select its partnership region for score-sharing before the deadline. The groups below are not alternatives: route-specific and school-specific dates can apply cumulatively, while shared result, preference-form and offer dates apply across multiple groups. Scoring and eligibility
The partnership test page publishes age-standardised weights of 50 per cent for English and verbal reasoning, 25 per cent for non-verbal reasoning and 25 per cent for mathematics. Warwickshire school policies allow school-selected weightings, so a shared sitting does not establish identical totals for every school. Check the intended school's entry-year method. There is no single route-wide offer threshold: each partner school applies its own qualifying scores and oversubscription rules. Sitting or passing the shared test does not guarantee an offer.
