Selection route

  • West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test

Shared test group · GL Assessment · Two paper-based multiple-choice papers, each approximately 50 to 60 minutes including instructions and examples, with individually timed sections and separate answer sheets

The partnership test page publishes age-standardised weights of 50 per cent for English and verbal reasoning, 25 per cent for non-verbal reasoning and 25 per cent for mathematics. Warwickshire school policies allow school-selected weightings, so a shared sitting does not establish identical totals for every school. Check the intended school's entry-year method. There is no single route-wide offer threshold: each partner school applies its own qualifying scores and oversubscription rules. Sitting or passing the shared test does not guarantee an offer.

Eligibility
Boys born 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016, or educated in Year 6 in 2026/27, who register for and complete the 11+ entrance test and name the school on the Common Application Form.
Score policy
The Committee of Reference sets the automatic qualifying score and required minimum academic standard for the 2027 entry year from the 11+ results. The policy does not publish a fixed 2027 score.

Who gets priority

Published radius: 16.936 miles from the Fountain in Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Two priority circles share this fountain reference: inner 13 miles and outer 16.936 miles, described as reaching the county boundary south of Long Compton. Neither is centred on the school. Confirm the exact address with Warwickshire Admissions; a map estimate cannot confirm it. Residence must be evidenced by 11.59pm on 31 December 2026. Home is the application address; equal shared care uses where the child sleeps and spends most Monday-to-Friday time. December proof requests require two documents within 15 working days or the application becomes late. Moves need actual residence by the December deadline and evidence, potentially including disposal of the old home. Later moves are considered after 1 March 2027 as late. Score-tie distance instead runs from the Ordnance Survey home address point to the school centroid.

Ask the admissions authority to check your address against its exact reference point. School postcode coordinates cannot confirm this boundary.

PAN is 87. The Committee of Reference sets the Automatic Qualifying Score (AQS) and Required Minimum Academic Standard (RMAS) each year; previous scores do not guarantee an offer. EHCP-named boys are first, subject to the policy’s above-RMAS condition; confirm individual arrangements with Admissions. The order is: care, including adoption after overseas state care, at AQS or up to 20 below (if the AQS/RMAS gap exceeds 20, care reaching RMAS); outer-circle pupil premium via FSM at AQS or up to 20 below, up to 13 places including later re-offers; inner-circle boys at AQS, up to 70 places; outer-circle boys at AQS; boys outside the outer circle at AQS; then below-AQS boys above RMAS. FSM means registration at any point in the six years before the test-registration deadline, with evidence. The 13/70 are category limits within PAN, not extra places. Every category uses descending score, then nearer straight-line distance from the OS home address point to the school centroid. Equal score and distance use Warwickshire’s computerised random allocation witnessed by independent Legal Services. The fountain defines circles, not distance ties. Outside-circle first-round offers depend on insufficient qualified local applicants. Test registration closes at 11.59pm on 30 June 2026; a separate home-authority CAF is required on time. Both must be on time for first-round consideration. The policy permits late test registration to count on time with an evidenced move into the circles by 31 December. After 1 March, late and on-time applicants share the same waiting-list criteria, held until 31 December 2027. Lower-preference offers trigger automatic listing if academically eligible. Category 6 says above RMAS, but sections 2.4.3.2/2.4.5 include pupils at RMAS: confirm that boundary with Admissions. A twin below AQS gains no concession because the other twin qualifies. Offer acceptance is normally within two weeks, subject to home-authority rules.

For September 2027 entry. Policy checked 2026-10-23. A priority category does not guarantee an offer.

Registration routes and shared dates

Use the registration route shown for the child's real home address, then account for every school you intend to name. The home address is used to allocate a test centre. If an intended school is outside that registration region, select its partnership region for score-sharing before the deadline. The groups below are not alternatives: route-specific and school-specific dates can apply cumulatively, while shared result, preference-form and offer dates apply across multiple groups.
