Shared test group · GL Assessment · Two paper-based multiple-choice papers, each approximately 50 to 60 minutes including instructions and examples, with individually timed sections and separate answer sheets
Scores are age-standardised and weighted 50 per cent for English and verbal reasoning, 25 per cent for non-verbal reasoning and 25 per cent for mathematics. There is no single route-wide offer threshold: each partner school applies its own qualifying scores and oversubscription rules. September 2027 school thresholds are not yet published, and sitting or passing the shared test does not guarantee an offer.

- Children in the normal age range for September 2027 entry must take the shared West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test and achieve at least the qualifying score published for the school. A child with an education, health and care plan naming the school must also meet the required academic standard. Test registration and the home local-authority common application form are separate steps.

- The shared test produces age-standardised verbal, numerical and non-verbal results. Five Ways publishes a qualifying score and a higher priority score before the test.
