Trafford Grammar Schools 11+ guide

Loreto Grammar School and Saint Ambrose College are outside this five-school Consortium. A Consortium result does not replace either school's own entrance examination. Check each school's registration and admissions rules before listing it on your home council's application.

1. Stretford Grammar School said it would tell parents the result before 31 October 2026. Each consortium school sets its own qualifying score, so check the score for every school you are thinking of naming.
2. Name each school you want on your home council's Common Application Form. Stretford says it can only consider a child for a place if it is named. Trafford residents must return the form by 31 October 2026. If you live elsewhere, check your own council's date.
3. A qualifying score is not an offer. Stretford says allocation letters come from your home council on 1 March 2027, or the next working day.

For September 2028 entry, the five Trafford Consortium schools will use FSCE instead of GL Assessment. The test sat in September 2027 will draw on the Key Stage 2 national curriculum programmes of study up to the end of Year 5. One paper draws on English and maths and a second draws on other subjects, and the content may change from year to year. For September 2029 entry onwards, the FSCE test moves to the latter part of the summer term of Year 5. Loreto Grammar School and St Ambrose College run separate tests; check each school for its own dates and familiarisation material.

These GL Assessment subjects and dates apply to September 2027 entry. For 2028 entry, the five Trafford Consortium schools switch to FSCE, with a test in September of Year 6 that draws on the Key Stage 2 curriculum up to the end of Year 5. One paper covers English and maths and a second covers other subjects. For 2029 entry onwards, the FSCE test moves to the latter part of the summer term of Year 5. Exact dates and familiarisation materials for those later rounds need checking with the schools.

The five schools use the shared age-standardised result but their qualifying rules differ. AGSB and AGGS policies provide defined lower-score routes for some looked-after or Pupil Premium applicants. Stretford provides automatic or Local Review routes for some applicants scoring 324-333, with a successful review resulting in 334R. Urmston sets 334 for most applicants and 324 for eligible Pupil Premium applicants, with additional Local Review bands. Sale Grammar School’s 2027 policy does not state a separate numeric qualifying score. Qualification or review is not an offer; each school applies its own admissions criteria.
