  The five schools use the shared age-standardised result but their qualifying rules differ. AGSB and AGGS policies provide defined lower-score routes for some looked-after or Pupil Premium applicants. Stretford provides automatic or Local Review routes for some applicants scoring 324-333, with a successful review resulting in 334R. Urmston sets 334 for most applicants and 324 for eligible Pupil Premium applicants, with additional Local Review bands. Sale Grammar School’s 2027 policy does not state a separate numeric qualifying score. Qualification or review is not an offer; each school applies its own admissions criteria.

  Provider change for September 2028 entry

  For September 2028 entry, the five Trafford Consortium schools will use FSCE instead of GL Assessment. The test sat in September 2027 will draw on the Key Stage 2 national curriculum programmes of study up to the end of Year 5. One paper draws on English and maths and a second draws on other subjects, and the content may change from year to year. For September 2029 entry onwards, the FSCE test moves to the latter part of the summer term of Year 5. Loreto Grammar School and St Ambrose College run separate tests; check each school for its own dates and familiarisation material.

Eligibility

Applicants born 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016 who attain the qualifying score in the age-standardised Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium entrance examination.

Score policy

The policy requires the consortium qualifying score and ranks eligible applicants by selection-test score where applicable; it does not publish a separate numeric 2027 threshold.

Oversubscription

Applicants whose EHCP names the school and who meet the qualifying score are admitted first. Priority then goes to looked-after or previously looked-after children; up to 15 Pupil Premium applicants, first eligible applicants in the priority area by distance, then eligible Pupil Premium applicants attending a Trafford state-funded primary and living in Trafford but outside the priority area by score and distance; applicants in the priority area (M33 plus Trafford residents in M23, WA14 and WA15) by distance; then other applicants by test score. Equal-distance ties are resolved by random allocation.
