Selection route
- Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test
Formal consortium · GL Assessment · Two Transfer Test papers: one assesses verbal skills and one assesses mathematics and non-verbal skills. A separate Practice Test is scheduled for 8 September. Buckinghamshire state-funded primary and Partner school pupils sit at school; other pupils are usually allocated a grammar school or another central test venue.
GL marks the papers and scores are age-standardised. The total is weighted 50% verbal, 25% mathematical and 25% non-verbal; a total of 121 or more qualifies. A higher score gives no extra admission priority.

- Eligibility
- Boys entering Year 7 in September 2027 are eligible if they achieve 121 in the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test or are deemed qualified by Selection Review or, exceptionally, an Admissions Appeal; the policy also provides up to 12 ring-fenced lower-score places within PAN.
- Score policy
- The STT assesses verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills with age-standardised scores combined into the Secondary Transfer Test Score; 121 automatically qualifies. Up to 12 lower-score places within PAN admit eligible catchment applicants scoring 113-120.
- Registration

Who gets priority
Published area: Priority Area A: High Wycombe, part of South Buckinghamshire and outlying villages, Priority Area B: part of South Buckinghamshire and Maidenhead.
The two mapped areas together form the catchment; Area A precedes Area B in the residence categories. These descriptions do not define exact borders. The school’s linked PDF map was unavailable when checked. Use the council address checker shown here. Confirm the full address and applicable priority area with Buckinghamshire Admissions. The normal home address must apply by 1 September 2026, with the child intended to remain there or in catchment at entry.
Open the official boundary informationQualifying EHCP-named boys are admitted first. The Year 7 order is care status, including adoption after overseas state care; up to 12 catchment care or Pupil/Service Premium boys scoring 113-120; other catchment premium boys scoring 121+; catchment boys with a same-home continuing JHGS brother in Years 7-12 at allocation and entry; catchment boys with a continuing sister at Wycombe High; sons of permanent-contract staff employed for two years at application or recruited for a demonstrable shortage; Area A; Area B; evidenced exceptional medical/social need; then other boys. The 12 places are a score concession, not the total intake of 180. Other applicants need 121 or qualification by selection review/appeal. Premium entitlement must be established by the 31 October CAF deadline, with evidence shown to the school. Each category uses nearer distance first, then independently supervised drawing of lots. Distance is straight-line from the Ordnance Survey home address point to the nearest open pupil gate. Medical/social claims need independent professional evidence and panel consideration showing why this school is needed. Normal residence means over half of Sunday-to-Thursday nights in term time, by 1 September 2026, with intended residence there or in catchment at entry; notify changes immediately. Service/Crown families can use evidenced intended addresses before moving; evidence is needed by 30 January for the first allocation. The waiting list follows criteria, not join date, until 31 December 2027; transfer-test qualification then lapses and in-year procedures apply from 1 January 2028. Declined offers do not prevent rejoining. A final waiting-list place for a multiple birth admits all siblings above PAN.
