Selection route

  • Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test

Formal consortium · GL Assessment · Two Transfer Test papers: one assesses verbal skills and one assesses mathematics and non-verbal skills. A separate Practice Test is scheduled for 8 September. Buckinghamshire state-funded primary and Partner school pupils sit at school; other pupils are usually allocated a grammar school or another central test venue.

GL marks the papers and scores are age-standardised. The total is weighted 50% verbal, 25% mathematical and 25% non-verbal; a total of 121 or more qualifies. A higher score gives no extra admission priority.

Eligibility
Girls with STT score 121 or above, or deemed qualified by Selection Review or exceptional appeal.
Score policy
The policy weights the age-standardised STT scores 50% verbal, 25% non-verbal and 25% mathematics. 121 qualifies automatically; up to 12 lower-score places within PAN accept 115+, with up to 6 available at 110-114 if unfilled, under the stated catchment Pupil Premium/service premium or care-category rules.

Who gets priority

Published area: Catchment shown in Appendix 2 of the 2027 admissions policy, PDF page 13.

Use the blue school catchment boundary, not the red Buckinghamshire boundary. Catchment-category residence must be continuous from 1 April 2026, with residence at entry intended. Appendix 5 also applies continuous residence to distance priority. For shared homes, use the address where the child spends most of the school week. Retaining a former normal home within 20 miles used after 1 April 2026 prevents a closer address qualifying, even if rented out or sold to a parent-controlled company. Complete supplementary residence form 2; rented-home evidence normally covers at least six months after entry, with further proof allowed for periodic tenancies or missing agreements. Forces/Crown servants follow the County Scheme. Ask the admissions authority to confirm the full address; a postcode alone does not prove membership.

Normal Year 7 qualification is 121 or a qualifying selection review/appeal. Qualifying EHCP-named admissions come first. The order is policy-defined looked-after or previously looked-after girls, including its international care/adoption cases; qualifying catchment Pupil Premium girls, including Service Pupil Premium; the limited score-concession category; qualifying staff daughters; other catchment girls; sisters of continuing Years 7-12 pupils; evidenced exceptional medical/social needs that only this school can meet; then others by distance. The concession reserves up to 12 of the 180 places for eligible catchment premium/service-premium or care-status girls scoring at least 115. If these are unfilled, up to six of those 12 can go to eligible girls scoring 110-114; care-status applicants come first within this category, then distance. Premium evidence relates to the most recent school census: send proof with the application and notify admissions@challonershigh.com for the concession category. Staff need two years of service at application and/or a demonstrable shortage post; staff form 1 is due by 31 October 2026 for first-round Year 7 allocation. Sisters must attend at March allocation and remain on roll at entry, under Appendix 3. Send independent professional medical/social evidence to Buckinghamshire Council with the application. Where a category is oversubscribed, apply the subsequent criteria as the policy directs, then straight-line normal-home distance to the Cokes Lane main entrance; identical distance uses an independently supervised ballot. The in-year aggregate-score rule is not a Year 7 criterion. Qualifying female twins/multiple births can exceed PAN if the final place would split them. Catchment residence rules apply.
