Selection route

  • Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test

Formal consortium · GL Assessment · Two Transfer Test papers: one assesses verbal skills and one assesses mathematics and non-verbal skills. A separate Practice Test is scheduled for 8 September. Buckinghamshire state-funded primary and Partner school pupils sit at school; other pupils are usually allocated a grammar school or another central test venue.

GL marks the papers and scores are age-standardised. The total is weighted 50% verbal, 25% mathematical and 25% non-verbal; a total of 121 or more qualifies. A higher score gives no extra admission priority.

Eligibility
Girls with STT score 121 or above, or deemed qualified by Selection Review or exceptional appeal.
Score policy
The policy specifies two approximately 60-minute papers in autumn assessing verbal, non-verbal and mathematical skills. Age-standardised scores are summed; 121 automatically qualifies. Up to 6 lower-score places within PAN accept scores of 115-120 under the specified catchment Pupil Premium or care-category rules.
