Selection route

  • Kent Test

Local authority selection test · GL Assessment · Paper-based multiple-choice tests with separate answer sheets, followed by an unmarked writing exercise

English, mathematics and reasoning results are age-standardised. Kent sets an aggregate threshold and minimum component scores for each test year. For September 2027 entry, the 2026 test required an aggregate of at least 345 with no component below 111. A grammar assessment does not guarantee a school place; each school applies its own admissions criteria when oversubscribed.

Provider change for September 2028 entry

For September 2028 entry, Kent County Council has appointed Quest Assessments for the test sat in 2027. The council says its structure, timing and purpose will stay the same and will publish familiarisation material before that test. The 2026 test and September 2027 entry are unaffected.

Eligibility
Applicants must enter through the Kent 11+ assessment procedure and be deemed of grammar school ability.
Score policy
For normal September 2027 Year 7 entry, applicants must be deemed of grammar-school ability through the Kent age 11 assessment procedure; this policy gives no separate numerical school cutoff. Separately, the in-year admissions section describes the school's four-paper test for applicants outside the normal round and requires a minimum standard in each paper, stated as an aggregate standardised age score of 110 or more.
Oversubscription
After EHCP-named children, eligible applicants are prioritised in this order: looked-after and previously looked-after children; siblings on roll at entry; applicants receiving Pupil Premium (including Service Premium) who live in a listed postcode and within 8.5 miles; qualifying children of staff (employed for at least two years or recruited for a demonstrable skill shortage); then all other eligible applicants by straight-line distance from home to school. Equal distances are resolved by random selection.
