  School-specific assessment · GL Assessment carries out marking and standardisation; the policy identifies the papers as the property of GL Assessment. · Two papers, each approximately one hour, taken in person at Kendrick School. Applicants living in the designated area sat on 18 September 2026, in a morning or afternoon session. Applicants outside the designated area are given a later date, which the school sends to families.

  The 2027 policy says raw scores are age-standardised and rank order is based on the aggregate of the two standardised paper scores. The current results FAQ gives the outcome-cycle qualifying scores: 99.00 for categories 3-6 and 94.00 for eligible categories 1-2. These are cohort-specific 2027-entry figures. The school states that meeting the threshold does not guarantee an offer; qualifying candidates are ranked against the 128 places and oversubscription criteria.

Eligibility

Girls normally born 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016, working in Year 6, must register for and sit Kendrick's two-paper admission test and complete the home Local Authority Common Application Form.

Score policy

Two tests assess English, Mathematics, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning; raw scores are age-standardised and aggregated, with a qualifying score set to two decimal places and a five-point lower threshold for looked-after and eligible Premium categories.

This list combines two different priority tiers. Appendix 1 lists these precisely; only the named sectors of other districts are included. A match cannot decide the allocation category, score or residence evidence. The permanent home must apply at application and no later than 31 August 2026, and continue at entry. Later moves improving priority are considered on the waiting list on 8 September 2027 after offer-acceptance deadlines; moves reducing priority apply immediately. Confirm the full address and tier with the school.

EHCP-named children are admitted first. A cohort score is set to two decimals; care and premium categories have a score five points lower. Applicants are ranked by test performance within categories. First come looked-after/previously looked-after children, including adoption after overseas state care; then evidenced Pupil/Service Premium applicants eligible on 31 August 2026 and resident in Area 1 or 2 on that date through entry. These categories can receive offers outside the top 128 ranking, but the total remains 128. Next, applicants in either area are offered places until up to 96 places (75%) have been offered. The remaining 32 places (25%) go to Area 1, then Area 2, then outside-area applicants by rank. The 96 places are not reserved only for Area 1. Premium includes current/past-six-year FSM and the policy’s specified service-child categories; documentary evidence or primary-school confirmation is required. The waiting list uses the original criteria from 1 March 2027 to 31 January 2028. Its equal-score rule prioritises nearer designated-area homes before outside-area homes; distance uses Reading Council grid references/digital mapping from home to the front gate, then independently supervised random allocation for equidistant applicants. This tie-break paragraph specifically describes the waiting list; confirm its application to initial offers with the school. The permanent home is the majority Monday-Friday residence; formal equal-care orders allow parents to agree an address, otherwise majority care or, without a formal agreement, the child-benefit address applies. Temporary convenience addresses are excluded and other available homes must be declared. Post-August moves improving priority wait until 8 September 2027; moves reducing it apply immediately. Registration and the CAF are separate requirements. In category 3 of the policy (pages 21-25), the combined areas mean Area 1 or Area 2.
