Selection route
- The Latymer School Year 7 entrance assessment
School-specific assessment · GL Assessment sets the Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning papers. The school sets the written English paper. · In-person assessment at The Latymer School. Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning use multiple-choice question booklets and answer sheets; English is a school-set written paper.
GL age-standardises the Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning results. The normal English-marking threshold is the top 700 combined Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning rank; specified priority applicants have a top-900 threshold. English scores are added and the results are re-standardised for candidates whose English is marked. Offers are made by rank under the published oversubscription criteria, subject to PAN 192. Meeting a test threshold does not guarantee an offer. Inner Area residence is an admissions criterion, and applicants registering from outside the area must provide evidence of an eligible new address by 7 January 2027 to be considered under the published rules.

- Eligibility
- Applicants must reside in the published Inner Area, sit the compulsory selection tests and be deemed selective, then name the school on the home local authority CAF. Looked-after and previously looked-after applicants are exempt from the Inner Area residence rule when they qualify under the relevant priority.
- Score policy
- Applicants take Maths, Verbal Reasoning and English. GL Assessment sets and marks the multiple-choice Maths and Verbal Reasoning papers; the English reading and writing paper is set and marked by the school. Normally the top 700 combined age-standardised Maths/Verbal Reasoning applicants have English marked; special looked-after and Universal Credit/Free School Meals categories use a top-900 threshold. Results are combined and re-standardised to rank candidates.
- Oversubscription
- EHCP-named applicants are considered first. The policy then prioritises looked-after and previously looked-after children (top 900 Maths/Verbal Reasoning applicants, with no Inner Area residency requirement), up to 20 qualifying Universal Credit/Free School Meals applicants in the Inner Area (top 900), up to 20 qualifying music applicants in the Inner Area (top 700), then other applicants resident in the Inner Area in rank order. Applicants outside the Inner Area are not considered until resident within it. Music and disadvantaged places are caps within PAN 192, not additional places.
