Selection route
- Medway Test
Local authority selection test · GL Assessment · Three multiple-choice papers with a minimum 20-minute break between papers. Medway maintained primary/junior pupils sit at their own school; pupils from non-Medway primary/junior schools sit at an allocated Medway Council test centre in Medway. Medway independent-school candidates follow their school-specific allocated arrangements.
English and maths age-standardised scores count twice and reasoning once. For September 2027 entry, the minimum weighted total for a grammar assessment is 478, equivalent to 26% of the Medway maintained-school cohort. A grammar assessment does not guarantee a school place.

Who gets priority
Published area: Allhallows, Cliffe and Cliffe Woods, Cooling, Cuxton, Frindsbury Extra (including Wainscott and Upnor), Halling, High Halstow, Hoo St Werburgh (including Chattenden), St James, Isle of Grain, St Mary Hoo, Stoke.
These named parishes form category 5, after the separate within-two-miles category 4. They are not a universal eligibility boundary. Medway measures the two-mile category, so ask Medway to confirm whether your home qualifies; a straight-line estimate cannot confirm it. Categories 5 and 6 use shortest safe walking distance measured by Medway Council. Use the normal home at application and ask Medway to confirm the full address and distance; a postcode alone cannot prove priority.
Eligible children must be deemed selective through the Medway Test and name the school on the secondary common application. For the 150 Year 7 places, the order is looked-after or previously looked-after children under the policy definition; siblings continuing at entry; qualifying staff children; children living within two miles; children in the named parishes; then other eligible children. Siblings must share the home and include natural, adopted, step and foster siblings. Staff need three years of school service at application and/or recruitment to a demonstrable shortage post. Parish and other-applicant places use shortest safe walking distance measured by Medway GIS. Equal eligibility for the final place uses a numbered random draw. The home must be the actual normal residence at application. The council keeps a requested waiting list until 31 August for applicants ranking Fort Pitt above the school offered; the school then runs the Year 7 list for the academic year under these criteria. Confirm any changes with admissions, and ask Medway how the two-mile distance is measured.
